Our Motto Lately....

I was telling Ryan that our motto lately has been, why not add one more thing to the list of things to do?!

Ryan has been very busy with school this semester (no surprise). He thought this would be a busy semester, but not this busy. He has been working hard on his thesis project, research assistant position, and being on the various committees. When one committee ends, somehow he is chosen to do something on a different committee. He only has 2 more weeks left before the semester ends and I know he is looking forward to the break!

My class has finally slowed down. We had 2 huge projects due at the end of the semester and with my due date at the end of the semester, I worked hard to have those projects done in the middle of the semester. I submitted them over a month ago now and have been keeping up with the weekly readings, quizzes and papers. Last week I took my last quiz and posted my last paper - all I have left to do now is take the final exam. I can't even begin to express how happy I will be when this class is all done. It has been a busy semester for me too. I don't know how people go back to school full time and work and juggle everything else going on. Taking one class each semester has been enough for me!

Saturday morning we moved into a 2 bedroom apartment. I can't think of a better thing to do at 38 weeks pregnant...can you?? Ryan was in charge of organizing the move and finding people to help. I didn't think we had that much stuff, but you forget about all the stuff in closets and in the tiny spaces that have been forgotten about. We feel so blessed to have had so much help from Ryan's school friends and some church friends with moving boxes and the few big things we have. They were done moving everything by 10:30 am. We had help putting up the baby stuff, and unpacking boxes and our old apartment was cleaned by Shantel and Sheri. They are troopers for doing that daunting task. Like I said, we felt so blessed to have so much help on Saturday there is no way we could have done it all.

The weather called for rain and I prayed that morning that the rain would hold out until we were done. On my way to pick up treats for the movers the sky was cloudy and I was sure it was going to pour on us. My prayer was answered and it didn't rain, it was just really windy and cloudy. That afternoon was a different story....a bunch of tornadoes touched down in our area and across the state. It rained and hailed and was very windy. Nothing happened to our apartment, but there was a lot of damage done in other areas close to us. Our power was out for most of the late afternoon and into the evening. I was so glad we were done moving when the storm started and that we were inside unpacking boxes at that time.

Sunday I think "nesting" finally kicked in for me. Since we were going to move everything in our old place was in boxes or being packed so I didn't feel like I was able to "nest". But once everything got moved I got to work. After church I knocked everything that was left out and got organized. When Ryan got home from school he was surprised by how much I had gotten done. It felt good to have all the boxes unpacked and know where everything was again.

Oh, so the baby's due date is Monday, May 2. Ryan's studio final is on April 29 and mine is on April 28. Like I said, why not add one more thing... We are looking forward to finally meeting this little guy. I think we have a name picked out but we still aren't sharing. It is crazy how much you can love someone so much already and you haven't even met them yet. Now that we are moved and have his crib and other things set up I feel more prepared to have him come home with us. He can make his big debut anytime now...but preferably after our finals are done.

Dianna Comes to Visit

Last weekend Ryan’s mom came to visit us. We had a fun time with her in town.

Friday, March 25

Her plane came in at 11:40 pm. We didn’t do much after we picked her up from the airport because it was so late. We chatted for a bit when we got home and went to bed.

Saturday, March 26

Dianna treated us to breakfast at the Carolina CafĂ©. Ryan and I love that place so we were excited to eat there. Our friends the Moore’s were having their son, Nathan’s first birthday that afternoon so we went straight from breakfast to their house. Dianna was a champ and came with us to that. From there we went to Burlington coat factory so Dianna could get us a baby swing. I think the swing is perfect, Ryan thinks the fabric is a little loud. We went back to the apartment and took it easy for a bit. Ryan did school work, I took a nap and Dianna talked with Ryan and relaxed.

That night was the ward baby shower. Since Dianna was going to be in town, we thought it would be fun to have it while she was in town. Autumn and Shantel planned the whole thing and did a fabulous job. One lady made a fruit arrangement that looked amazing, it took her 3 hours to do. Autumn made a cute diaper cake, the treats were delicious and we played a “low key” game at my request. We were so spoiled and received a lot of great gifts! We are so lucky to have such great friends here! While the girls were at the shower Ryan was watching basketball with Andrew and his dad.

Sunday, March 27

We had church in the morning. I was giving my primary lesson as usual, Ryan was teaching in the Elder’s quorum and then the Foley’s were blessing their baby boy Liam during sacrament and Ryan helped out with that. Pretty busy church day! During the afternoon, we went for a drive to show Dianna around the town. We had dinner at the Larkin’s – which was delicious. Came home got ready for Monday and went to bed.

Monday, March 28

Ryan took her to the airport after they dropped me off at work. Her plane was leaving that morning to Florida where she to spend the next week with Ryan’s brother in Florida. The visit went too quick and we hope she enjoyed her stay with us. We enjoyed having her here.
