Nolan's 2 Year Check Up

On May 1, Nolan had his 2 year check up with the doctor.  Here are his stats:
Weight: 29.31 lbs  (70th percentile)
Height: 35 inches  (75th percentile)
Head circumference: 19.29 inches

I had a nice conversation with one of his pre-school teachers today (May 16) and she was so happy to have Nolan there with her.  She said that the other kids love being around him.  He makes others laugh and smile.  He catches onto things quickly.  He is smart (all mom's love to hear that).  He is very busy, which we already knew.  He likes projects and working on things with other kids.  He is getting better at coloring and will sit for about 5 minutes to do it before he loses interest - which is normal for a 2 year old.  Anyway, it was just something I wanted to document and make note of.  We think he is a great kid and very handsome!

Vegas!

I have been wanting to get out of town for a while now, and wanted it to be somewhere warm!  Last weekend we ventured to Las Vegas with our friends the Alvey's.  It was the perfect getaway, and so nice to not thing about work and just spend time together as a family.  We left Thursday (May 9) after work around 5:45 pm.  Luckily, we didn't hit too much traffic.  Nolan fell asleep around 10:30 pm and woke up around 12:30 am or right as we were pulling up to the hotel.  Ryan went to check us in, and the line for check in was a lot longer than you would think for being so late.  The lobby was crazy busy and people watching was at its best!  We were all excited to get to our room and get to bed.

Friday, May 10 we slept in as much as possible with a 2 year old before heading out to walk along Las Vegas Blvd.  There aren't many people out early in the morning which made it nice with the 2 strollers.  Nolan was pretty hungry, so we stopped to get him a hot dog We ate at Serendipity for breakfast and had the best frozen hot chocolate.  It was sooo good!  The boys were ready for a nap after that and so was I.  Ryan and Tony went exploring while we slept.  After naps, we went to the pool.  I was expecting a few people at the pool, but when we walked out it was packed.  Luckily, everyone was along the edges of the pool or laying out.  So we had the middle of the pool to ourselves for Nolan and Jett to splash around.  Ryan said it was "Spring break, circa 1982" at the pool since most of the people were middle aged acting like they were on spring break.  Again, people watching at its best!  We looked up the show at the Excalibur and thought we might be able to make it down there in time - we didn't make it.  We ended up eating the buffet at the Excalibur instead and then walking back exploring the Aria and new city center area along the strip.

Saturday, May 11 before we checked out, we walked to Caesars Palace and looked at all the shops in there.  Before we knew it, it was almost 11:00 am and that was checkout time at the hotel.  Ryan ran back to the hotel to meet Tony so they could checkout.  We didn't want to pay the late checkout fee.  Charlotte and I walked back with the boys and met up with Ryan and Tony after they had checked out and taken all the luggage back to the car.  We stopped by In-N-Out burger and the True Religion outlet (for Tony) before heading out of town.

Next stop was a visit to the Hoover Dam.  I was the only one in the group that had visited the Dam, which was surprising to me.  We paid the $7 to park and then the $11 to go on the electricity tour.  The Dam tours were all sold out for the day, which I was bummed about.  The tour was pretty awesome and Nolan was pretty good - I had to take him to the car before going to the overlook, but that was ok.

We headed for St. George after the jam packed morning - but instead of taking I-15 we took a highway that went along Lake Mead for most of the way.

Sunday, May 12 was Mother's Day!  Enjoyed the continental breakfast, hit the pool for a bit, went to the outlets and was able to get a few things for Mother's Day and hit the road for home.
