Grandma D.

Monday, morning (4/29) at 5:55 am my cute grandma passed away.  She had been in an assisted living facility in Sandy for over a year and had the beginnings of dementia.  She went into the hospital about a month ago for pneumonia - but come to find out it was caused by her swallowing food and it would go into her lungs.  After the hospital determined they wouldn't be able to do anything about the pneumonia she left there and went to CareSource, a facility on 4500 South and 1600 East for people who need extra special care.  She was basically bed bound from that point on and declined rapidly.  Tammy was able to come from Georgia a couple of weekends ago to see grandma and everyone in the family was able to see her and spend time with her.  She stopped eating and was drinking very little at the beginning of last week - so we knew it was only a matter of time before she would pass away.
My dad called at 6:30 am on Monday morning to tell me the news that she had passed.  Even though we all knew it was coming, it still doesn't make the news any easier to take.  I finished getting ready and dropped Nolan off at his school.  I stopped by CareSource on my way to work and i'm glad that I did.  Paulie, Scottie, Nae, mom and dad were all there making arrangements for the funeral.  They asked me to talk at the funeral on behalf of the grandkids and share memories with grandma.  We all went to Chuckarama with everyone that night.

Grandma was the nicest person I have known.  She never raised her voice at anyone and loved living the gospel.  She will be missed and I will miss her a lot, but am glad she is finally reunited with grandpa.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Since everyone was already together for Nolan's party in the morning we decided it would be fun to go out to dinner to celebrate Dad's birthday.  We ended up going to Tepanyaki and that place never disappoints!  It was nice being with everyone at dinner.

After dinner when we went to start our car, it wouldn't start.  Luckily, Josh and Macy had parked next to us and were able to give us a jump start.  We went straight to AutoZone since it was close to 8:00 pm and most places were closed at that time.  They determined that we did need a new battery since our charge was low.  I ran Ryan and Nolan home and headed back to AutoZone.  We replaced the battery and hope this one will last just as long as the other one did (we never had to change it and we've had the car 5 years).

Nolan's Second Birthday Party a Tracy Aviary

Saturday (April 27) at 10:00 am we met at Tracy Aviary in Liberty Park for Nolan's second birthday.  I made some invitations and sent them out to family.  Jared, Josh, Macy, Mom, Dad, Collie, Zach, Easton, Corbin, Nolan, and Ryan we all there.  We missed the other members of the family that couldn't make it.  We walked around the aviary and watched a bird show.  When everyone had seen everything, we had cake/ice cream and pizza at the park and opened presents.  Nolan was spoiled and this is what he received: splash and play table; bubbles and an automatic bubble blower; a basketball; soft bowling set and a cute Tails book; and a fun monster book.  It was a fun day and Nolan loved spending time with everyone and seeing all the birds.

My Sister is the Best - and Conference Weekend

Nolan's sitter was off for her spring break and Collie was willing to step in to watch Nolan on Thursday and Friday (4.4 & 4.5).  I met Collie at Silver Creek and off she went with Nolan.  I know Nolan had a lot of fun with her, Zach, Sammie, Corbin and Easton.  Not a day has gone by that he hasn't asked where they are since he stayed with them.  Collie kept him overnight and I went to pick him up on Friday after work.  I really appreciate Collie stepping in and watching Nolan for us.  She is so willing to help with Nolan and I know he always loves being with her and his cousins.  I drove Collie and the boys down to SLC and dropped them off at my parents house.  Since it was conference weekend and Zach was going to be away she stayed down here.

Saturday night we did our traditional Hire's dinner and shoe shopping after while the boys were at priesthood.  I sure love this tradition!  Sunday the whole fam came over and we had conference lunch and watched conference with everyone.  I love when we all get together!

House Divided

We were able to go with my mom to the Jazz/Nuggets game and sit on the 3rd row again!  How on earth did we get so lucky?!  Ryan was nice and didn't wear any Nuggets gear since he would be surrounded by Jazz fans.  These seats are amazing and there are so many things that you pick up sitting so close to the action.  It was a fun night out and we appreciate Josh and Macy for watching Nolan so we could go to the game.  I wish the Jazz would have won, but the Carl's Jr. shake made up for it after the game.  :)

Easter 2013

Saturday, March 30 we had an Easter egg hunt with my family at Josh and Macy's house.  Macy invited her sister, sister in-law and their kids to come - it was fun having them there.  Josh and Macy hid all the eggs and my cute mom made darling baskets for all the kids and couples.  The kids couldn't wait to get going on the egg hunt.  It was so cute to see them all standing over on the cement waiting for Josh to give the OK to get going.  Nolan was more interested in lining up his eggs than gathering them. Easton and Corbin were running around collecting eggs and Macy's nieces and nephew were fun to watch as well.  We went and got KFC for dinner and ate it at their house.  I loved spending the afternoon/early evening with everyone!
Sunday, we went down to my parent's for dinner and Scottie's crew came over for dessert.  Grandma was with us and she is always fun to have around.
