Where did February go??

I cannot believe it is already February 28th! It seems like just the other day we were talking about how it was almost February and now it is March! Ryan leaves for his school trip to London and Paris tomorrow. He is so excited about the trip part, but not excited about leaving me behind. I don't like it when he is gone but I have a lot to do for school so i'll be busy.

The weather has been fabulous lately and today it is supposed to be 80 degrees! Not too bad for February 28th...the trees are starting to blossom and I am really looking forward to everything turning green again.

The pregnancy countdown is down to single digits.....9 more weeks!! That doesn't seem that far away anymore. I have heard that the last few weeks are the most uncomfortable and seem to drag on. I have been so busy with work and school that I haven't really had time to think much about it.

We have visitors coming in March and we can't wait to see them. My brother is coming mid-March and Ryan's mom is coming the last weekend in March. My parents booked their tickets to come out after the baby is born and we are looking forward to that! We sure love having visitors! :)

Be My Valentine

We don't tend to make Valentine's day a big deal. I told Ryan that morning that I love him everyday, not just on Valentine's day. But that being said, Valentine's day was so much fun this year! I was able to talk to everyone in my family and wished them a happy Valentine's day. Ryan got me some roses that he surprised me with by leaving them on my car seat when I finished work, I made him a card, we drove to South Point in Durham and went to dinner at Johnny Carino's (my choice), and went shopping for shoes for each other. It was the perfect night! I was happy to spend the night with Ryan and not have anything else to do that night.

Bullock's BBQ

Last Saturday we went and watched one of Ian's home rugby games on Duke's campus. He had a whole fan club there, Robin, Autumn, & Lisa-Jean, Christine & Aiden, Stephanie & Dan & Kids, Shantel & Andrew & Nathan, and us. It was a beautiful day so no one minded being outside....until the sun went down then it got a little chilly.
After the game we went to Bullock's BBQ in Durham and it was delicious! There is a wall in the restaurant filled with famous people's pictures that have eaten there. Last time Autumn tried to go the restaurant, it was closed down because the vice president was eating there....I wonder why they didn't take our picture to put on the wall?!

Weekend Stuff...

Friday night Ryan and I ventured to Babies R Us to buy a car seat. This was something that I had been looking forward to for a few weeks now. I’m not sure why but this felt like the one thing that we had to have to make me feel like if the baby were to come now, we could at least bring him home. I’m still feeling great and feel so fortunate to have had a “smooth” pregnancy so far. There are still 12 weeks left so who knows what will happen during those weeks but up to now things have gone smoothly. I love feeling the baby move – he has found my ribs and I do not love that too much but I still love feeling him move. Tonight we meet with a potential pediatrician and tomorrow I go in for the glucose test appointment, so things are progressing right along.

Saturday, we went to Fayetteville with the Foley’s to watch Ian play rugby. The weather was cold and rainy and not really good outside weather. We watched most of the game outside, and finished the game from the car. It was fun to go onto a military base, Fort Bragg, and watch the game. Before we were able to enter the base the car was searched, the guard looked at our ID’s and we even had to pop the hood of the car which was interesting. We were a few hours early so we walked around the commissary and looked at the prices of food on base - i.e. killing time before the game started.

Sunday, I had a great day at church. The primary lesson went well and I was able to continue my adventure of teaching the kids in my class (age 7) how to look up scriptures. I’m not sure if they like it or not, but it is an important thing to learn and I figure age 7/age 8 is a good time to start! We went to the Larkin’s for an amazing super bowl party – they sure know how to throw a party. There was plenty of food and the commercials were just alright. There were a few that were very funny and we watched those a second time…..a few of them I was thinking to myself really, this is a commercial you paid millions of dollars to advertise and this is all you could come up with. But anyway it was a fun game to watch and really didn’t care who won I just wanted a good game.

Ryan finished the competition and I was so glad to get him back! He had multiple late nights where he would only get a couple hours of sleep. One night he came home at 4:00 am and got up at 7:00 am to go back in - we called that his nap for the night since there is no way anyone could consider that a sleep. He has made some good contacts in the architecture field and hopefully something good will come out of those. My class is taking up a lot more time that I could have ever imagined. When I’m not working on readings or other things for it I’m thinking about how I should be working on class stuff instead of doing other things that might be more fun. I guess it is helping time go quickly so that is a good thing.

Well, that about sums up our weekend fun and I need to be better about taking pictures to post, since reading is always more fun with pictures!
