Funny Nolan Things.....

I wanted to make sure we remember a few of the funny Nolan things right now:
*His favorite movie is Cars and he has to have his Lightening McQueen car in hand while watching the show.  We watch this show daily, and sometimes twice a day.
*He says, "Hands to yourself Mom/Dad"
*He says, "Enough Mom/Dad/Nolan"
*Chocolate milk is his favorite drink
*He has been wanting to sit on the toilet a lot lately, nothing happens, but at least he is showing interest
*Constantly saying, "I do it, I do it" or "Do it self"
*Says daily, "Come on mommy/daddy, come on"
*Loves "outside play" and playing with his cars in the dirt
*Loves to water the plants with mormor and dad
*"Not today", "Not tonight", "Not quite"
*When he wants us to follow him, he will periodically check back to make sure we are actually coming
*Loves looking for tractors when we are in the car and when we see one he will say, "Tractor right there, tractor right there."
*Has us sing happy birthday to Corbin, Easton, plant, Scottie, tractor, candle and a lot of other things
*"....snap that Nolan right out of that tree...."
*Loves reading right now - will bring us many books to read to him each night.  I hope this trend continues and he always loves to  read
*Calls our new car a monster truck
*Hides behind pillows and thinks we can't see him

31 Never Looked So Good!

Happy birthday
to this handsome guy!

We kept it pretty low key - went to Blue Iguana for dinner, walked around Gateway and he went to the gym.  Sunday, we had family dinner with my family where he got a new Utah shirt, homemade bread, eggs, zucchini, and money.  He received a bunch of messages, texts, and cards from family/friends throughout the day.  Here's hoping your 31st year is a great one!
Nolan and I love you!

Tarzan!

Monday night we went to Tarzan at Hale Center Theater.  Brockie was a spider and monkey in this play.  Mom, dad, Josh, Macy and Ryan all went.  We missed having Collie and Zach there.

No Goats, No Glory!

The family went to opening night at the fair and had a great time!  Nolan loved all the animals and being with everyone.  Corbin and Zach did the giant slide, Josh and Macy rode the tidal wave.  It was a fun night, and i'm glad Collie had the idea to go opening night.  It wasn't crowded and the animals didn't smell too bad yet.

All Grown Up

Nolan carried his lunch box into day care all by himself.  I thought he looked so grown up carrying his Jazz lunch box!  We sure love him!!

Labor Day Happeningss

We had a nice labor day weekend.  Friday night we said goodbye to Autumn and kids.  It was so fun seeing them, and wish they didn't have to leave!

Saturday, Ryan went for a long bike ride with Brandon Lake on the west side of the valley.  He was gone most of the morning and had to work in the afternoon for a few hours.  We hung around the house playing trucks, and watching Nolan's new favorite movie Cars.  Nolan and I met up with Josh, Macy, Tony, Charlotte and Jett at Seven Peaks to go swimming one last time.  Nolan always has fun in the water.  That night we met up with Jared and Annie at Sugar House Park to play around.  After the park, we went and got snow cones!  Love snow cones and I hope we can get at least one more before they close down.

Sunday, we went to church.  Ryan had to teach his primary class and I was in the nursery.  After church we drove out to the Salt Flats.  I hadn't really stopped at the Salt Flats before, so it was a fun adventure to have!  We were invited to dinner with a family from our ward - we went over there and had such a fun night getting to know them and their cute girls.  We stayed over there until 9:45 pm - we hadn't planned on staying that long but time just got away from us.

Monday, we drove Josh and Macy to the top of Emigration canyon so they could run down in practice for their upcoming 1/2 marathon in a few weeks.  We drove down to This Is the Place park and played around there for a bit to kill some time while Josh and Macy were running.  My parents met up with us and we headed up to Ruth's Diner to put our name on the list.  I love Ruth's Diner and Nolan does too apparently - he kept asking for their biscuits.  He cracks me up!

We had a lazy afternoon, took naps, Ryan went to the grocery store and we cleaned the house.  We stopped by one of our favorite consignment stores on 3rd west just to look around.  Next thing we know, we are leaving with a new stand for our TV.  Love a good deal, and I love that we won't need to use our end table for a TV stand anymore.  We drove to my parents for a BBQ with Scottie and Nae, B Bug, Lauren, Seth, Josh and Macy.  Can't think of a better way to spend the day!

Look Mom, A Snake!

This morning as I was driving to drop Nolan off at preschool Nolan said, "Look mom, a snake." I looked back, since we were stopped at a red light and he had found one of my hairs and was playing with it and pretending it was a snake.  I love that his imagination up and running!

Game Day!

We have been looking forward to this day all year!  Thursday, August 29 = Game day!! We played Utah State and beat them in a close game.  The final score was 30 - 26.  Go Utes, hoping for a bowl game this year!

Autumn's In Town

Autumn and kids came in town for a week and a half - we loved seeing them.  We tried to spend as much time together as possible.  We spent time at her dad's apartment, Collie doing her hair, going to temple square, dinner at Hire's, City Creek mall, hanging out at our apartment.  We sure do miss them!!

First Annual Back to School Camp Out

A few weeks ago, Josh had an idea to have a back to school camp out with everyone.  He and Macy planned everything for it.  Ryan got off work early, picked up Nolan and met up with Josh, Collie and her kids to head up the canyon to get a camping spot.  The original plan had been to go to the Spruces, but that was full so we went to Redmond just up the street a ways and it was fantastic.  Mom and dad went up after work.  Macy drove up later after her work.  I had new student orientation so I ended up getting there around 9:30 pm.  We had tin foil dinners, played charades, s'mores of course and talked around the fire.  I was a little nervous about how Nolan would sleep - we put him with us on the air mattress and made sure he was covered up so he wouldn't get too cold.  Collie and Zach have a huge tent that we all slept in.  It was really fun.
Saturday morning we got up and Josh had a fire going - he got up at 5:00 am for some reason and started chopping wood.  We had breakfast and packed everything up.  Ryan went fishing for a bit, but didn't catch anything.  We all drove up to Silver Lake and walked around.  It was a great day and a fun trip.  We all agreed that we will do it again next year!

New Car!

This is our new monster truck - we had been looking all week and for a car.  I went with Nolan to my dad's work for an open house.  Ryan stayed back and went car shopping.  Ryan called me and thought he had found the car, took it to a mechanic, and was all but signing the papers before I got there.  We bought the car from Rand's auto and couldn't have been happier.  It is a 2011 and only had 40,000 miles on it.  We look forward to taking many trips in this car.

Friday Afternoon Off

We both had the afternoon off and decided to attend the temple.  It was a fun afternoon together!
