Go Utes!

Yesterday was the first game of the season for the Utes.  They played Northern Colorado and totally smoked them, 41-0.  I love the Utes and I love going to the games.  Thanks to my dad for supplying the season tickets for us and getting such great seats!  We are teaching Nolan to say Go Utes!

Nolan's Favorite Spot

Lately, Nolan has loved going under the table and hanging out.  We open the blinds that are by the table and he can be under there and look out the window which is one thing he loves to do.  He takes his books, bear, blankets, toys you name it and he takes it under there.  When Nolan grows one inch taller, he will not fit under the table standing up anymore....not looking forward to the day when he bumps his head trying to walk/run under there.

Mirror Lake Adventure

On Saturday, we went up to Mirror lake in the Uintah mountains.  We invited Collie's family to come along with us.  We weren't able to leave until mid-day due to kids naps and primary activities, but it worked out perfect.  We drove up to Collie and Zach's house in Heber and piled in their car so we could all drive together.  From their house it is only about an hour drive which isn't too bad.
It was sprinkling a little on the way there, but we didn't think too much of it and Ryan made a comment that he had checked the weather and it shouldn't be raining for long.   I hadn't been to the Uintah's in a long time and had forgotten how beautiful it is there.  It was cloudy most of the drive there and the rain continued most of our drive.  We made it to the lake and found a parking spot.  When we parked the car, the rain was just starting to stop.  We sent Ryan and Zach out to find us a table.  They came back and said they had found a table pretty close.  We unloaded all the kids and our stuff and Sammy (their dog) and set out to the table.
I guess I had forgotten how cold it can get in the mountains, even in the summer and I am sad to report I didn't bring a coat or long sleeve shirt for myself.  I brought a long sleeve shirt for Nolan and Ryan packed a coat for himself.  Luckily, we had a blanket that I could use and it would save me from the cold.  I made a mental note that day to always take a coat to the mountains.
When we saw the table Ryan and Zach had in mind a couple had just gotten there and sat right in front of the table, but closer to the lake.  We didn't think we could find another table so we waited until they left to move into that spot.  I made the comment that we had "smoked them out" of our spot!  :)
Ryan and Zach got all their fishing stuff set up right away.  Me, Collie and the boys huddled under blankets trying to keep warm.  It kept raining off and on but we stuck it out until the wind got so bad that we decided it would be best to go back to the car to warm up.  Ryan and Zach stayed back and fished/watched our stuff.
We were in the car only for a little while when the rain stopped and we ventured back out to brave the elements.  At this point it was close to 5:00 pm and we were getting hungry, so we started to make dinner.  Right as we were getting dinner started it rained pretty hard again.  Luckily, this would be the last encounter with rain and the sun would come out and I said that I was actually getting hot.  Once the sun came out, you would never have known how cold and rainy it had been.
Ryan had made hamburgers that we made over the fire and we brought watermelon, chips, chips and salsa, and apple cobbler for dessert made in the dutch oven.  Mmmm  After the sun went down, we loaded everything up and headed home.  On our drive out of the mountains, we saw a bull moose which was neat.

We will be laughing about all the fun and adventures we had in our few short hours in the Uintah's!

Nolan's First 4....

Monday night we had to take Nolan to the Instacare for his first 4 stitches.  He was running in the kitchen, tripped on a rug and fell.  He has done this many times before, but this time he hit his head on the bar that holds the chair legs together pretty hard.  I knew instantly that we would be going to get stitches for him.  I ran in the kitchen to pick him up and Ryan came rushing over.  I didn't see any blood at first, but after looking at his eye I saw the blood.  We tried to wipe it off, but Nolan wouldn't have any of that.  He was crying and in a lot of pain.
Ryan quickly looked up instacares in the area and we were off.  I called the instacare from the car just to make sure they were able to give stitches to toddlers.  The last thing I wanted to have happen was for us to get there to find out they couldn't help us.  Ryan dropped Nolan and I off at the door while he parked the car.  After talking to the lady at the front desk, she went back to get a nurse to begin the numbing process.  Nolan didn't like this at all.  I don't think it was the numbing process he didn't like, I think it was that we had to hold his arms down and his head still in order for it to work.  We waited in the lobby for 20 minutes for the numbing stuff to take action.  Nolan fell asleep while we were waiting to be called back - he was so cute laying there fast asleep in Ryan's arms with the bandage over his eye.
After they called us back to the room, we laid Nolan on a bed and the nurse wrapped him in a warm blanket to ensure that his arms wouldn't get in the way of the procedure.  (Smart move on their part!) He was a trooper while the Dr. was giving him the stitches. We were back at home within an hour of when the accident happened and he was back to running around the house like normal.
While Nolan was going through all of this I kept thinking if I could trade places with him, I would and that I would take all of the pain he is feeling for myself.  I didn't like seeing my little buddy in pain and having to go through with this.  Yes, I know it is a simple thing but I still didn't like seeing those tears stream down his face.
I'm sure this won't be the last set of stitches he will receive in his lifetime.  He is an active boy!

Jared's White Coat Ceremony and other Weekend Adventures

Dianna came in town on Wednesday afternoon.  Everyone was at work, so she worked on a Christmas stocking and people watched until we were able to pick her up around 6:00 pm.  Jared came over and we had dinner at our house.  We just hung around the house chatting and catching up.

Thursday, Dianna stayed at our house while we went to work.  Ryan was able to meet up with her during his lunch break.  That night we went to City Creek for dinner.  We ate at the Blue Lemon and it was fantastic!  I plan on going there again to eat.  Craig came in late Thursday night/early Friday morning.

Ryan and Nolan walked down to City Creek

Friday was a fun day for us, we were able to attend Jared's white coat ceremony at the U of U. The ceremony didn't start until 1:00 pm.  I went to work in the morning and Ryan had a work meeting at 8:00 am.  After Ryan's work meeting they went to breakfast at Ruth's diner.  I was a little jealous they went there without me.  The ceremony was at Kingsbury Hall and was very nice.  It only lasted a little over an hour but everyone took a bunch of pictures after.  There were some light refreshments for us to have as well.  We didn't stick around there too long because we had to go down to the DMV to register the car in Utah.  I am sad to lose the North Carolina plates and this is the last thing left to do to "officially" become Utah residents.
That night, I stayed home with Nolan so he could get to bed at a reasonable hour.  Ryan went to Jared's where everyone went out to dinner.

Saturday we went to breakfast at Oasis cafe with everyone.  After breakfast we went to the farmer's market at Pioneer Park.  Craig and Dianna treated everyone to drinks and even got me a 5 minute massage.   Dianna's plane was leaving that afternoon so we had to make sure she made it to the airport in plenty of time to check in and board the plane.
That night, we went to Jared's to swim and BBQ.  There was a Bronco's game on, so of course we watched that too.

Ryan, Nolan and Craig went for an early morning walk on Sunday.  Jared came over for lunch.  Craig left shortly after lunch.
It was a fun weekend with everyone!

Girl's Day Out

My mom had the fun idea a while ago to have a Girl's Day Out!  Me, mom, Macy and Collie all met up early Saturday morning for a day of shopping at the outlets in Park City.  We had just barely entered the canyon and were stopped to a dead hault in traffic. We think it is because of the Tour of Utah bike race. We were stopped for a good 20 minutes - but that didn't stop us. We had fun while waiting in the car. We didn't plan it this way, but we were there the same day they had Derek Huff from Dancing with the Stars there for a back to school celebration.  We shopped until we dropped and bought a lot of cute things.  Macy got some new running shoes and a couple of shirts.  Collie got some shirts.  I got a couple of shirts and some work pants.  My mom bought my dad some new shoes, shoes for herself and a couple of shirts.  After shopping we walked around Main street in Park City and had lunch at Main Street Pizza and Pasta.  It was such a fun day and thanks to my mom for giving us some spending money and for organizing it!

Traffic just as we entered the canyon

Friday night we went out with Matteo and a date to Settebello Pizza for what Matteo calls the most authentic Italian pizza he has found in the states. It was quite good and we enjoyed spending time with them. Nolan came with us on the date and was very well behaved. We enjoyed some gelato for dessert! Loved the night with my boys!!

Clyde Lake Campout

Last weekend Ryan and Jared camped out in the Uintah Mountains.  They left Saturday morning and came back late Sunday morning.  They hiked back to Clyde lake and camped by Notch mountain peak.  They fished and had fun!
